This auction si for an antique pull toy. The bulldog measures approx 24 in length and stands 9 10 tall. Teh body is made up of paper mache. Hnad painted. The bottom of each paw has a wood wheel inserted for rolling the dog along.
Has this wild leather and horse hair collar in place and original pull chain for walking and for barking. When he barks the mouth opens. I cannot fidn any makers marks on the dog. The bulldog has fabulous facial features including wrinkles and you can see his rib cage outline on the sides of the dog and the physique of a true bulldog. The dog has an old problem with his right front leg. Appears that it was unnaturally bent at one time and at the elbow the outer surface has worn away. There rae other ever so minor cracks in other places on the surface. Be usre to view all the photos and use the click to enlarge option to see more clearly. He has a black butt, black circles around his eyes and black ears, black nose which most of the black has worn off, and black spots where his wiskers would be. The eyes aer glass. Inside the mouth is pink and teeht white. I would imagine his body was a msut lighter color when new. There is wear on pointy parts, tips of ears, tip of tail. His head bobbles back and forht left to right and when the chain is pulled he barks a unique bark. I have no other information about him other than he is part of a huge doll and toy estate.
